Your AFA Negotiating Committee met with Breeze management October 19 to 21, 2026. This was a busy week as we addressed a number of sections including Section 5 Hours of Service, Section 6 Scheduling, Section 8, Sick Leave, and Section 28 Part Time. We have made substantial progress on the sick leave and absence issues and are down to a handful of issues. The key issues we are still negotiating on are how much leave we accrue which is economic in nature and will be handled later in negotiations. AFA has a related proposal which is to modify the terms of the reliability policy which we believe contains counterproductive provisions that are overly strict. This is going to require a lot more discussion before we come to an agreement. We also passed proposals on Hours of Service and Scheduling which are the most complicated sections of the contract, as they contain the rules which govern our flying. Scheduling includes many important topics such as bidding procedure, trading rules and the method for reassignments. Hours of Service includes legalities such as days off, duty days and other rules on how our schedules can be constructed. Our goal is to lock in some existing rules and to make targeted improvements in this area. We are quite far along in both Sections and are continuing to push for fair work rules. We had some discussion about the Part Time section of the contract. We are seeking to preserve part time work for existing members who want to remain part time, expand the opportunity for full time work and to improve provisions for both Full Time and Part Time. These discussions are in the beginning stages. Overall we believe we made good progress this week. We will meet again November 17 to 19. We are pushing forward into the core issues in our bargaining and appreciate your support as we push forward for our first contract. In Unity, Your Breeze AFA Negotiations Committee |
