New Hire Welcoming Committee
The primary role of this committee is to educate new employees about their rights, the benefits of union representation, and to build support for our union during and immediately following initial training.
Our New Hire Welcoming Committee focuses on:
- Making a friendly, initial connection to share why our union matters directly to new hires.
- Presenting information on our collective bargaining agreement, member benefits, and our union's mission.
- Educating Flight Attendants about their workplace rights and building solidarity from day one.
- Getting new members registered and engaging them in upcoming meetings, days of action, elections, and more.
- Gathering membership forms and feedback on key issues or concerns new hires might already have.
- Ensuring our union’s message is heard.
Benoit Teves has been with Breeze Airways and Breeze AFA since 2024, and flying since 2021 when he began his aviation career with Spirit Airlines. Previously, Benoit enjoyed a career in theatre and live performance, where he first became familiar with the importance and functions of labor unions under the Actors’ Equity Association.
From AEA to AFA and every industry in between, Benoit is passionate about solidarity and collective action that protects workers and the valuable labor we provide to our employers. The New Hire Committee is particularly important to him because of his dedication to protecting, supporting, and advocating for those who are still getting a grasp on how this career works. In addition to his position with the New Hire Committee, Benoit volunteers with Breeze AFA as a mentor, a peer observer, and as a member of the Membership Engagement Committee.
When not flying and organizing, Benoit is a total film buff and general pop culture nerd; he can frequently be found in a movie theatre or catching up on his watch list at home. He is also a writer (primarily stage scripts and theatrical critique) and a hobbyist app developer. Benoit and his husband Corey (also a Breeze Flight Attendant) love to jet-set on weekend trips, particularly checking off visits to the National Parks or seeing Broadway shows in New York City.
Dedicated to fostering solidarity from day one, Benoit works to ensure every incoming Flight Attendant feels informed, protected, and supported as they launch their aviation journey.
